Mill House Framing Studio (formerly Spaceframing) was set up in 1998 by professional artist James Bartholomew when he couldn’t find a satisfactory service to frame his own work. The service quickly expanded, providing frames for many other artists and then to the general public via two workshop/showrooms in Parbold and Standish.
That was 21 years ago and using James’ standards as a benchmark, the business has grown in reputation, now serving countless individuals as well as many commercial organisations, large and small throughout the North West.
James Bartholomew RSMA
James has been a professional artist for 27 years and his paintings are shown extensively throughout the UK and abroad. He has collected several notable awards and commissioning clients include the BBC, Waitrose and the Sunday Times. His work can be seen at the gallery in our Parbold premises with a display space of over 2500 square feet.
James oversees all operations and his studio is based within the gallery complex at Parbold. If you would like to see James with any questions or queries while visiting Parbold, please just ask.
All James’ limited edition prints as well as all the frames for his prints and originals are produced by us here at MHFS.
NIGEL BUCKELS framing advisor and framer (Standish)
Having worked with us for 19 years, Nigel is our most experienced framer and has helped design and create thousands of bespoke frames.
From sharks skulls to full size wedding dresses, if it exists, Nigel has probably framed it! He is also an accomplished, award winning wildlife artist (http://nigelabuckels.yolasite.com/), further demonstrating his meticulous eye for detail.
DAVID PARKER framing advisor and print manager (Parbold)
With us for 18 years, David looks after our Parbold framing showroom as well as managing the gallery. He is also our digital printing expert and the person who takes care of all scanning and printing which includes the publishing division of the gallery.
Nigel and David have been with me here at the business for most of its existence (that’s nearly seventy years of combined experience between the three of us!). Collectively, we are pretty well qualified in all that is framing and are keen to help you in any way we can.
GABRIELLE MAHONEY framing advisor and digital content (Parbold)
Gaby advises on frames at our Parbold premises and also takes care of the digital side of the business including the website, mail-outs and administration. She does the same for our sister business, the Mill House Gallery.
…well, she just likes tennis balls.
